Eugene The Magician
Recently we had a visitor telling us about ANTI-BULLYING. His name is Eugene, and as a child, he had been bullied for 3 years. It would have stopped but he didn't tell the teacher and so that tells us to always tell other people if we're being bullied. If your friends turn their backs on you don't be offended, but tell a teacher and it will be all over. If you don't, then the bullying might continue like it did for Eugene but even longer.
He did lots of tricks for every one and some volenteers helped by acting and it was hilarious.
Eugene told us

Advent!!!!
As you are aware we are starting Advent this week! Everyone is so excited for this wonderful event and cant wait to get their advent calenders out!Whether it is a:
Mars bar one, a galaxy one, a twix one or just a special calender with lots of chocolate shapes on- they're all so special!
Any way lets get off the subject of chocolate and move onto the true meaning of Christmas :
most people just think Christmas is all about presents and chocolate but they can think again!Although all presents are nice we all forget about Jesus being born by his mother mary. So before you open all your nice presents think of all the trouble Mary went through giving birth to Christ!

Judaism
Over the past 2 weeks, the whole school has been learning about the Jewish religion. Each year groups have explored a different aspect of the faith, and we have taken great interest in their symbols, celebrations and beliefs. We have learned the ten commandments are really special to the Jewish people. They go to synagogue each Saturday and week days. At the synagogues the people have there own names on there seats but they dont have to sit there. Girls and ladies sit upstairs and boys and Men sit down stairs.

David the blind Paralympian
On Tuesday the 20th November, David Clarke, the blind footballer, came to our school, along with his guide dog, Ned. He told us all about his career being a footballer right since he was a young boy. Unfortunately he could not play for his school team, as he has been blind since he was born. He has been captain of the England and Team GB football team and took part in the Paralymics in London this year. He has now retired from international football, but we were very lucky to hear his inspirational story. Thank you to Jennifer's dad for organising the visit.

The Nativity Play
This year 2012 some lucky children in year 5 were chosen to take part in the fabulous nativity play, which will be performed in St, Joseph's Catholic Church in December. The nativity play is obviously about the birth of Jesus at Christmas, but takes a slightly different approach to the story. We have been practicing after school on mondays but it is about elizabeth!

Blog box
Each week, in Blog Club, we face the challenge of finding interesting topics to write about, and spend quite a bit of our time trying to come up with something! So we have had a brainwave! Blog Boxes!
Every year group would get a blog box to be kept in their area. When you write down on a piece of paper and put in some ideas for St.Josephs Junior School Bloggers. St. Joe's Blog meet each week, to update the information about what's happening in the school, and upload it here. With the blog boxes, hopefully other children will share ideas and suggestions and some of those ideas will be picked-out and it will be written as a blog.
We are in the process of colourcoding the boxes, and will appear in your year group when they are ready!

The Air ambulance
There was great excitement last week when an air ambulance landed on our school field. Year three came out to see it and the pilot came over to talk to us. He said he has been a pilot for 25 years. He also said that the air ambulance is supported by a registered charity. We just about saw the doctors in thier orange suits.

year 5 and 6 choir part 2
With the 02 coming up, pupils and teachers are working so hard to produce a great show! We are all learning many different songs including....
Hands Cristian Anderson
Musical Memories
disco fiever
pop medley
James air
It's all for the best and there are still so many songs to carry on learning it is so tiring! We are nearly there though! Children have already paid their entrance money, and extra for the t-shirt (only if they want to buy on though). The deadline was today, so we all hope that everyone has handed them in!

Frank Diamond interview
I'm sure everyone remembers Frank Diamond, who came to talk about the Year of Faith. If not, too bad! If so, good for you! Anyway we interviewed him about the Year of faith, and what it means, and here is what he said.
Q - Question
A- Answer
Q1.Why is there a Year of Faith?
A. Pope Benedict would like to re-energise the church, as well as a time to think about and reflect on our faith journeys and how it affects our local community and our national community.
Q2. How is it honouring God?
A.When we put our faith in action we are honouring God by serving others through caring, sharing and acts of charity in the home, school and parish.
Q3. How many prayers should we pray?
A. The little bits and pieces of everyday life is prayer in action, eg. Morning prayer, prayer before meals, when we finish our meals, before we finish school, before we go to bed, when we share our gifts and talents, going to mass and listening to our parents and teachers.
On a personal note - Frank supports
Man.United, Celtic and Ireland.
The whole school enjoyed spending time with Frank, and appreciated his enthusiasm for the Year of Faith. Hopefully, it has inspired us all to put Faith in Action.
From interviewers Nicole and Javin.

Halloween!
Some people went trick or treating during half term, and got money and sweets . People dressed up spooky and scary. Some adults did not open the door for trick or treaters. In Halloween people were not bothered Halloween is always spooky and scary.
